School and library visit costs
Karla and Kendra believe so strongly in the importance of children's literacy and have so much fun presenting to kids that they strive to keep their rates affordable.
As a result, you can have both of them for a low-cost partial- or full-day visit—less than what you'd typically pay a single author or illustrator! And every cent paid goes back to our publishing program. The current 2016-17 school-year fees include both Karla and Kendra: • One day-long author visit anywhere! (includes up to 4 presentations per day plus an evening event; can be shared by two or three schools in the same area): $1,200/day + travel expenses • One full day visit within 1.5 hours of Fort Collins, Colorado: (includes up to 4 presentations plus, if applicable, an evening event; can be shared by two or three schools in the same area): $800/day • Short visit (about an hour) (in Fort Collins only; 1 presentation): $400 For schools in Northern Colorado and metro Denver school districts, Karla and Kendra provide the added inspiration of hearing from a Colorado author and Colorado illustrator about how they create books in and about their own local communities!

This can be used to offset some or most of the visit fee. Community-building potential for bookstores and toy stores Bookstores and toy stores that arrange to bring Karla and Kendra to their community for author/illustrator visits at local schools provide invaluable experiences for children and families in their community. Bailiwick Press (and its distribution partners) are happy to collaborate with retailers and community organizations to arrange promotional visits and outreach events.
